Curved drylin® linear rails and energy chains for the rotation of igus® make monitors movable

An old water tower has been converted into the central control room for monitoring the water supply. The space in the upper part of this tower is used as a training centre that focuses on the environmentally friendly use of water resources and as a meeting room for the company management and its partners. As an aid for future training purposes, six movable television screens were set up in two rows, which move around the room in a radius of 6.8m and at an angle of 180°. In addition, there are another six movable television screens in the upper conference room, which are arranged in a single row. These television screens move in a circle with a radius of 5.9m and an angle of 45°.

Profile

  • What was needed: drylin W curved linear guide
  • Requirements: An arc movement with energy supply without interruptions in a 180 degree swing.
  • Industry: Waterworks
  • Success for the customer: Everything from one source - everything from curved rails to energy chains and ready-to-connect cable, came from igus

Problem

At the beginning of the whole project we faced several challenges. Two of those challenges were:

1. How are the TV screens mechanically guided in a circular room?
2. How do we bring power and data supply to mobile TV screens?

We also wanted to keep the maintenance effort as low as possible so that the scheduled meetings and training sessions would not have to be suspended for maintenance work. Thanks to the support of igus®, we did not have to search long for the individual components and were very happy to be able to get everything from one source.

Solution

We worked out the solution together with igus®:
Curved rails in installation sizes 10-120-10 in order to guide the monitors on the round wall.
Carriage for curved rail WWB-10-120-10 - maintenance-free and lubrication-free with very quiet operation.
RBR energy chains 2400.03.100 & 2400.03.100 specially designed for rotating movements
In the Reverse Bend Radius energy chains we then installed the chainflex CF9.10.04, also manufactured by igus®, for the energy supply. For data transmission CFBUS.049 and CFPE.25.01 for the ground connection. We always had a contact person - igus® - and always found ourselves well advised.
