Wear-resistant plain bearings in belt rollers for herb drying

Aromatic

This machine is used for preparing and drying kitchen herbs. Up to now, soiled and non-functioning belt scrapers, faulty ball bearings and worn shaft ends on belt cylinders caused machine downtime. With special parts made of iglidur® for the belt scrapers and regular iglidur® plain bearings as a replacement for ball bearings, the downtimes have been signifi cantly reduced.

Profile

  • What was needed: iglidur plain bearings
  • Requirements: The manufacturer was looking for a wear-resistant and durable product alternative.
  • Industry: Food industry
  • Success for the customer: The iglidur plastic plain bearings are cost-effective, maintenance-free and lubrication-free and can be used for a wide range of applications. By using the bearings, the service life could be increased, the maintenance intensity drastically decreased and downtimes significantly reduced.

Problem

This unit is a system for preparing and drying a wide variety of culinary herbs. The manufacturer of the system, Neumayer Maschinenbau GmbH, was increasingly confronted with problems with machine running time and failures. Components caused difficulties at several points in the processing plants:
The belt scrapers, for example, were heavily contaminated and no longer functioned properly. In addition, the ball bearings were defective and the shaft ends of the belt rollers were worn out. Therefore, the manufacturer was looking for a wear-resistant and durable product alternative.

Solution

In response to the problems in the herb processing plant, those in charge finally decided on bearing components from the iglidur product range. While special iglidur plain bearings are used for the belt grinder, regular iglidur plain bearings are used as ball bearing substitute. The iglidur plastic plain bearings are cost-effective, maintenance-free, lubrication-free and versatile. The various iglidur materials can be designed for the most diverse requirements, such as high temperatures, high loads or high media resistance, depending on the customer's demands. By using the bearings, the service life could be increased, the maintenance intensity drastically decreased and downtimes significantly reduced.
