Application examples for the twisterband system

The compact igus® twisterband is cost-effective and allows rotary movements of up to 7,000°, even in extremely tight spaces. Energy, data, and media are guided reliably in a manner that requires little maintenance.
Typical industries and applications:
cable drums; robots (robot arms, first/sixth
axis, SCARA robots); machine tools;
medical equipment; radar and telescope equipment;
aerospace; test, measurement, handling, lifting, and
installation equipment; wind turbines (blade adjustment); etc.

Flexible cable guidance: welding head of friction stir welding machine

A twisterband energy chain in this welding machine ensures a reliable media supply with a rotation range of +/-720° in a very small installation space.

Edge-jointing unit

This machine connects a CNC machining centre with 5-axis technology to an edge-jointing unit, permitting new design options for furniture.

Woodworking

Flexible machining of wooden materials with rotations around the own axis for up to 1440 degrees.

The twisterband system

Rotary movements of up to 7000°, rotary speeds of up to 180°/s, extremely small installation spaces, fits very closely around the
rotary axis.
