Plain and linear bearings, spherical bearings, e-chains and more for food machines.

Frequently asked questions:

Which regulations do the materials of igus products comply with?
Not all of our products are suitable for use in hygiene-sensitive areas. On our material table we show the conformities of each of our materials.

Where can I find the certificates for the individual materials?
You can request evidence of conformity for individual materials at any time by e-mail or telephone. You can find the contact here.

I am looking for food-grade materials with definite material specifications. Where can I find an overview?
You can find an overview of materials for food contact and their central specifications here.

I already use an iglidur material, but it is not suitable for food. Which material do I have to switch to?
We have listed the FDA- and EU 10/2011-compliant counterparts to our non-food materials for you here.

Our materials and their conformities (FDA, EU 10/2011, 3-A, GB4806.1, Food Sanitation Act)

With a variety of materials for our plain bearings, bar stock, liners and 3D printing filaments, we also offer solutions specifically for the food and beverage industry.

Depending on the installation site and purpose of the component in the machine and also on the country, the requirements for the materials used differ significantly.
In addition to FDA specifications or the EU 10/2011 regulation, there is also the 3-A standard, which is specifically used in the production of dairy products. In addition, country-specific requirements must also be observed, such as GB4806.1 (China) or the Food Sanitation Act (Japan).

This raises the question: Which material actually conforms to which regulation?

Depending on the material, there can be big differences. While bearing materials such as A180 are compliant with the requirements of the FDA, the contents of the EU Regulation EU 10/2011 and the Food Sanitation Act, the all-rounder A500 can also be used for the highest standards. It also meets the requirements of the 3-A standard and GB4806.1.

In order to keep track of the range of standards for hygiene-sensitive applications, we have summarised the conformities of our materials for the food sector in this table.
Food standards - conformities of iglidur plain bearings/materials Materials for the food sector and their compliance with common standards/regulations.

Food-grade alternatives to iglidur materials

Food-compliant alternatives iglidur Are you already using iglidur plain bearings with the material specifications you want for your application, but which are not food-compliant?
We will show you the FDA- and EU 10/2011-compliant counterparts with similar specifications.

Specifications of food-compliant plain bearings

Specifications of food-compliant plain bearings Not every FDA- and EU 10/2011-compliant plain bearing is the same. Depending on the specific area of application in the food industry, different requirements are placed on the bearings. We will show you which bearings are particularly chemical-resistant or temperature-resistant.
